New Project

Wahoo! I got a (very small) commission. I’ve been asked by [CLIENT A] to make a podcast theme for [PODCAST A] lol. I’ll post the real details when it’s done.

So I’m pretty excited to work to a spec again - even if it is quite a vague spec. The nature of the show is kinda talky but the subject matter is games and musics and interviews, so the subject is not really very strong (theme-wise, musically, I mean).

As a good bit of research, I’ve listened to what would be called an “unhealthy” number of podcast intros over the last few days and made a lot of notes. Because, you know, I’m a geek, and we love note-taking.

I’ve developed a lot of Views on podcast themes… Some are fine, some are perfect, and some are that awful session-musician royalty-free 80’s m-o-r rock crap that sounds too crisp and lifeless. Blech.

My approach so far, has been to write down as many different ideas as I can, produce the lot of them (while not spending much time on any particular one) and see which style fits best. So far I’ve worked on about 4 ideas, and I’m pretty pleased - of course, anything that doesn’t get used goes into the library of sounds for future use! There’s already one idea that won’t work as an intro, but I think I’ll develop it into a track… Good stuff.

Enjoy your weekend, folks! Think of me hunched over my Mac, grinning inanely, while you’re grabbing those sun rays and being real people and all.
